Starting from Tashilog Garage, this ambitious one-day loop takes in Tsurugaoka Hachimangu — the spiritual heart of samurai-era Kamakura — and the famous bamboo temple Hokoku-ji, before heading south to the very tip of the Miura Peninsula at Jogashima. In autumn the temple approaches turn golden and crimson, contrasting beautifully with the blue of Sagami Bay.

Route Highlights

  • Tsurugaoka Hachimangu: Founded by Minamoto no Yoritomo, the grand shrine at the center of the warrior capital of Kamakura, with sweeping views from the great stone staircase.
  • Hokoku-ji (Bamboo Temple): A serene grove of around 2,000 moso bamboo stalks where you can sip matcha in quiet contemplation.
  • Misaki tuna lunch: Savor Miura's famous tuna at a lively fishing-port diner.
  • Jogashima & Cape Tsurugizaki: Dramatic coastal scenery at the peninsula's tip, facing both Sagami Bay and the open Pacific.

Riding Tips

Central Kamakura gets crowded, especially on weekends. Confirm parking for motorcycles on arrival and set out early. On the way home, aim to return to the garage by early evening to avoid traffic.
